Thanks to you both, your welcome, our brilliant accommodation and your miraculous food, even my prejudiced N. Devonian husband has fallen for Cornwall!

So have I!

Thank you so much for a lovely, quiet, peaceful holiday week … beautiful sunshine from dawn to dusk, wonderful location and hosts, stunning view, fab breakfasts.

As for the evening meals - the clean, empty plates said everything … we will be back for more of the same.

Thank you for another wonderful, peaceful stay at Carmelin.  You are the most thoughtful and generous of hosts, as well as fabulous cooks!

We’ll see you again soon.

The best meal since we landed in London 6 days before.  Thanks also for the delicious Minack picnic.

We are glad that you shared this lovely place and your sweetie cats and dogs with us … and thanks also for the wonderful weather!

Thank you so much for a lovely stay.  We thoroughly enjoyed your fantastic food.  The views are spectacular and we will certainly be back to enjoy it all again.

Carmelin Cuisine

If you would like to dine in comfort and privacy, we would be delighted to offer a specially prepared evening meal cooked just for you. Dinner is served at the table overlooking the sea and fields and, with luck, a fantastic sunset. On darker evenings, dinner is served by candlelight.

We welcome you to your table with a complimentary bottle of wine (colour to suit your preference and your choice of main course) and you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Here are just a few samples from our menu for your main course (and wherever possible, ingredients are locally sourced):

  • Locally caught fish (but see below)

  • Salmon en croûte

  • Lamb Provençal

  • Spicy tomato bredie

  • Chicken tarragon

  • Roast spice-and-herb-rolled pork tenderloin

  • A selection of delicious vegetarian dishes, including, for example bürek.

... all accompanied by freshly cooked vegetables - often home-grown - or imaginative seasonal salads and herbs from our garden,

... and followed by ...

  • Jane’s homemade lemon ice cream

  • Crème brulée

  • Brandy snap baskets with fruit and crème frâiche

  • Pears in red wine

  • Chocolate pots

  • Seasonal fresh fruit salad and Cornish clotted cream

  • Naughty chocolate puddings

... and finally, freshly brewed coffee, with a tempting sweet treat just to round things off.

Starters are also available for an extra £4.00 per head, and might include smoked salmon with brown bread and butter; Greek salad; roasted red peppers and feta cheese; home made soup (a winter speciality); smoked mackerel paté; avocado and prawns … shall we go on, or are you tempted already?

The price is £25.00 per head and we will do our best to accommodate your tastes. If fresh-caught local fish are available depending on season and weather, we will let you know. So just give us 24 hours’ notice, please, and come and discuss your requirements with us. The above will give you an idea of what we can usually offer, but we are fairly flexible and are constantly adding to and changing the fare, so do feel free to ask if there is anything particular you do or don’t like. Or just talk to us when you are here, and we will see what else we can tempt you with.

Please note; we can only offer one choice per day, so we hope you can agree on the same menu between you.

We look forward to feeding you!
